From Concert To Day Trip: A Day In San Diego

San Diego El Camino Real vewpoint

One of my favorite bands, Alabama Shakes (GET INTO THEM!), announced they were going on tour, and there was no chance in hell I was going to miss out on this opportunity! Looking up tour dates, I initially went straight to the show here in Los Angeles. But then I got to thinking “Why not make a day a day trip of it and go to another show in a nearby city?” So, San Diego it was! It’s only a 2-hour drive from LA and with my friend coming with me I knew the trip wouldn’t be that bad! So I took the day off from work (it was a weekday) and we hit the road!
We were originally looking at an RV Rental San Diego offered but we decided to go for the day instead, do didn’t require such transport. I kinda regret not staying for a bit longer and going for a proper road trip in an RV but there’s always next year. There were quite a few things that we wanted to try too but we simply ran out of time! For instance, have you ever been whale watching? Our friends told us that during whale watching season in Southern California you can spot some amazing marine mammals in their natural habitat. I hope we can visit San Diego again really soon as I would love to go whale watching! Anyway, since San Diego is so close to LA, I can pretty much go whenever I feel like it! San Diego view pointAfter stopping at a vista point to take in the incredible view, we made it to San Diego with a few hours to spare before the concert. After grabbing a bite to eat we visited Balboa Park, an urban cultural park that includes museums, gardens, a theater, and beautiful architecture. I was like a kid in a candy store in this park for all the dorky reasons you can imagine.

I didn’t think about how far I traveled; I just reveled in the fact that I was somewhere other than home, and I let my mind wander. I’ve got a friend who comes to San Diego all the time and she loves it here. It’s understandable, however, you don’t need to stay for weeks to realize that. Anyway, my friend always enjoys making use of yacht rental san diego to enjoy the beautiful weather. Unfortunately, we had a concert to go to, so we didn’t have time for that. I did have time to allow myself to think about how the colonnades reminded me of Rome or how I could picture this open window somewhere in Spain. I let my imagination run free, and I believe this is the start of your best travel plans.
