Doreane Raye photographyHow would I describe myself? Well, first off, my name is Sanura, and I was born, raised, and currently reside in Los Angeles, CA. I am a throw your head back and laugh out loud, lover of the arts who likes a good meal and will dance anyone off the dance floor, who breaks into song at the drop of a hat and is known for her inappropriate remixes of popular songs.

Professionally, I work in the retail industry as a Planning and Business Analyst, but when I’m off the clock you’ll find me buried in a good book or pursuing my newest passion, travel, which lead to me creating this blog! My back story probably doesn’t align with that of other travel bloggers you may follow. I didn’t study abroad in college. I didn’t get on a plane for the first time until I was 21. And I didn’t travel outside of the United States until April 2015. So, by no means am I an authority on travel. But what I am is someone whose life was forever changed by that first trip abroad. I am someone who came home with an insatiable wanderlust that I am in constant pursuit of satisfying. I’m also someone who works a corporate, Monday through Friday, 9 to 5 job. I immediately saw this as an obstacle, standing between me and seeing the world, but then I came to my senses. Once I realized that all it would take is a little strategic planning, there was no looking back!

I created I’m Taking Off as a platform to encourage your wanderlust and make travel a priority. I’m sure we’ve all seen our fair share of “I Quit My Job to Travel the World” stories, and that’s GREAT, but it’s not for everyone. I want to show you that with your job, with your income, and with your vacation allotment, meaningful, exciting, adventurous travel is yours for the taking and ITO will show you how.

Hi! I absolutely love your vibe, mission and focus on travel!! Before I had my daughter and realized how much daycare/preschool was in LA, I loved to travel…frequently. Now, I barely make it out of California. For 2016, I am putting ‘TRAVEL’ on my vision board loud and clear. Thank you for your beautiful offerings here! – Karyn, http://www.karynleegarcia.com
