Can you believe 2015 is almost over? We were just ringing in the New Year, and now we’re down to the last three months of the year. But I welcome the closing of this chapter and the beginning of a new one. I’m very excited about my end of year travel plans as well as a milestone I’ll be reaching by year’s end. I’m going to visit one of my favorite cities, I’m finally going to visit a destination I’ve dreamt about for YEARS, and I’m going to get a year older.
WASHINGTON, D.C.
Have you ever traveled somewhere and the moment you arrive, something clicks? For me, that city is Washington D.C. I visited for the first time in 2013, and although it was for work, I managed to squeeze in a little time to sightsee and fell in love. I don’t know if it’s the history that surrounds you, the iconic monuments, or the food, but something grabbed hold of me and has yet to let go. This time, I’ll be going for an extended weekend in October, so I’ll have three days to explore the town and I intend to do just that! While I’m over in the East Coast, I may well consider traveling with Atlantic Coast Charters perhaps to nearby Baltimore to see some of the sights there by bus.
LAS VEGAS, NV
My cousin is turning 30, and this is where she wants to celebrate. Forgive me if I don’t sound excited, because I’m not. Of course, I’m looking forward to celebrating this milestone in her life but Vegas just doesn’t do it for me. Don’t me wrong, it’s a fun place to be, but walking up and down the strip, with a drink in hand and club hopping lost its appeal a while ago. I think the only thing that’s going to be my saving grace this time is to venture off the beaten path and find some new adventures. Any suggestions? One that I actually am excited for, that doesn’t involve any late night drinking or wild partying, is the escape room Las Vegas which I’m looking forward to trying out.
SOUTH AMERICA
Years ago I saw a picture of the Christ the Redeemer statue for the first time and at that moment I knew I had to see it in person. This year I will be doing just that. In November, over the Thanksgiving holiday, I will be spending two weeks in South America making stops in Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil then Rio and ending the trip in Lima, Peru. I cannot begin to describe the excitement bubbling inside of me. I cannot wait to interact with the people, stuff my face with food, and samba the nights away. Is it November yet?.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!
My trip to South America is an early birthday gift to myself because on December 24th I will be turning 30!!!!! I know some people look at 30 as the beginning of the end but not me. I am looking forward to my 30s because I believe the best is yet to come. I feel as if I’ve stepped into who I am in my later 20s and I look forward to getting to know myself even more and traveling is a big part of that process. I want to celebrate my 30th birthday away from home, but I’m having a hard time deciding on a destination because cost is the biggest factor. I love my birthday, but it is the worst time of year to try and find a deal on anything, let alone airfare. But come hell or high water I will! Tulum, Mexico is at the top of my list at the moment, and I’m PRAYING I can make it happen so wish me luck!
These are the things I have planned, but I’ll always make room should an opportunity to travel present itself. Leave me a comment below and let me know what you have planned for the rest of the year and where you’re headed! I love to live vicariously through the travels of others. It makes for good inspiration 🙂

October 2, 2015 at 8:42 AMWhy can’t we do it all???? LOL I passed on some smaller trips so that South America could happen which I’m sure I won’t regret. I can’t wait to read about your big trip next year though!

My sister and I are continuing to celebrate entering our 40’s this year with two upcoming International trips:
November 2015 – Johannesburg and Cape Town, South Africa in early November. This will be our second trip to South Africa (October 2014).
December 2015 – Paris for 4 days a couple days after Christmas (airline mileage points used). With a quick day trip to London.
May 2016 – Carnival Sunshine to Bahamas with family (I’ve been many times to Bahamas, but we have many first time cruisers going on this 4 night cruise over Memorial Day).
September 2016 – My twin sister and I will be going on Carnival Vista on a 8 night Mediterranean Cruise.
